This painting was born as an attempt to reflect on the problem of the lack of drinking water linked to climate change. I imagined a world that seems suspended over the abyss, and in which the first ruins related to the abandonment of activities that potentially may no longer be sustainable in the future already appear. Referring to my daily experience as a swimmer, if it is true that fresh water will become the gold of the future, its use in large quantities for recreational activities will no longer be taken for granted. The same goes for the opportunity to admire an alpine glacier up close, because these natural reserves of fresh water and ecosystems are now in the process of accelerated extinction: in the painting I represented part of the Vedretta Forcola in the Stelvio National Park, as it was in August 2018, when I had the opportunity to spend the entire summer season at high altitude and observe first-hand the difficult situation of many Alpine glaciers.
